the summer always brings a hustle with it…
wanted to share a little of what i am working on…
First of…….Congratulations to my cast and crew of “39 Steps” for the 2013 TAG awards!!!
Carol Wisner won for best lighting design, and my boys, Ablan Roblin, Ben Beck, William Grennan and I scored “best ensemble” for the train scene!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And new works that are kicking off,
I am knee deep in rehearsals for “Knuffle Bunny” at The Rose Theater. running September 6-22!
Based on the book of the same title written by Mo Willems …I am playing “Mom” and I am loving every minute of it!
i mean, who wouldn’t enjoy watching a battle between puppets of larger than life laundry and a daddy that is trying his best to save his daughter’s bunny from the spin cycle? what could be more endearing than a heart-felt ballad sung entirely in jibberish by an adult playing a 2 year old? The whole show is just delightful… Susann Suprenant is doing a delightful job directing one amazing cast, and I am so grateful to be a part of it:)
also…. a few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being on “Whatever Mathers” with the vibrant Amy Mathers… along side visual artist Christina Narwicz, film editor Mike Hill and the executive director for Bemis Center for the Arts Adam Price… we had an amazing discussion about intention and interpretation as artists and lovers of art… what role does the audience play in how we create? Check it out by clicking the link above…
And so happy to see that the work I did with Hallmark last year is hitting the stores! now you can officially say you know one of those random people that are in the photo frames… 🙂
And works that are coming up…
Getting ready for production of “Outside of Town” a short film based on the bob dylan song and directed by Mark Morton… keep your eye out for this project… it is a gripping story about a small town father and husband trying to be the man that everyone expects him to be… and how asking for help can sometimes feel like it is not an option… It is a lovely story i look forward to sharing with you..
and i will be sure to keep you updated on “the archeology of birdsong”, an original work by aetherplough…
While previewing some of the music that has been created over the last few months during at the slowdown in Omaha on august 11th, we had the honor to open up the stage for Ensemble Dal Niente, a Chicago-based contemporary music ensemble… if you ever get the chance to check this group out, i highly suggest it… they are ushering in a new breath to classical disciplines… teaming up with incredible new composers and virtuosos , they articulate sounds with their instruments that I have never heard before. Click on the link and check out their media page to hear a sample of what i mean…. you will thank me:)
that is all for now! sending love and light…
